If your dog suffers with arthritis, dysplasia, or some other joint problem then you will no doubt be looking for an orthopedic dog bed. If you have done any research on orthopedic beds for dogs, you may be just as confused with the choices as before you started!


I have spent days researching this subject and I believe I have uncovered the best orthopedic dog bed . More importantly, I have discovered that most memory foam dog beds have a hidden danger which you need to know about.


While researching and looking for the best orthopedic dog beds I found that many of them were made from memory foam. I had heard some negative things about memory foam and so I decided to look into this material in more depth.

Make Your Own Orthopedic Dog Bed


With Stan’s bad back and advancing years, I felt we should transition to an orthopedic dog bed.  Orthopedic dog beds are typically filled with foam filling made to cushion and support joints and bones, great for senior, arthritic and disabled dogs.


I spent months researching orthopedic dog beds online and in stores.  I’d find one I liked online, go see it in person, only to find that it didn’t meet my standards.  Either the foam wasn’t thick enough, the bed was way too big, or way too small.  Stan’s a small dog, but he’s surprisingly long when he stretches out.  And I didn’t want memory foam—I wanted egg crate (personal preference).


All the good beds were priced higher than I wanted to pay, especially sight unseen.  Some of the reviews of the beds were questionable. So, I decide to take matters into my own hands and make a semi-homemade orthopedic dog bed.
